Hey guys,
My name is Debasish and I live in Santa Monica near UCLA. I think we all should get together and do something to mobilize our chapter here in So-Cal area. We all know that there are a lot of people who are on H1B and have applied for their GC. But they are waiting....
For myself, I have applied for my GC and still waiting for the I-140. Don't know what they are doing in the TSC???
So the idea should be to get them invloved...Somebody has rightly put it that we do not have a collective voice and that's why we are ignored...
Hope you guys understand...
I think we should start collecting database of people who have applied for their GC and waiting.
If you have any input on this, I will gladly hear it...

Given the current market conditions,I dont think there will be a lot of new EB1,EB-2 ROW filings.Given that EB1 and EB2 ROW are current,there will be considerable overflow to EB2 I and C.The chances are very good that EB2 I and C will move faster than it moved late last year and early this year.April 2009 quarter opens new Visa Numbers too,If EB2 ROW and EB1 are slowed because of economy then certainly there should be some additional visa numbers available for EB2 I and C.At this stage it depends on PERM EB2 ROW data.

Well, you could still try and apply in EB2, as you mentioned earning a master's degree.
I am one of those who came in 98 on F1 and went through 3 different GC processes (all EB2) to finally see the CPO email now. No regrets though, as I changed employers a few times (resulting in dropping the first two GC processes) to achieve growth (higher salaries, actually).

I think the longest wait I have ever seen is of my friend who entered the US in 1992. He did his Bachelors, then did some work on OPT, then did his Masters, then did some work on OPT, then tried to do PhD but couldnt finish it in , got a fulltime offer, worked on H1 then on extensions and finally got laid off in 2008 before his 485 could be filed. He had enough of it and finally said goodbye to US and left :) So that's 16yrs!

Forget about LIFO or FIFO, this year EB2 won't be getting enough visa's from spill-over. They would be giving majority of spill-over to EB3-ROW/I/C and EB2 would be getting very small fraction. And how's that is possible for that they would play around the law ( by making EB2 current).

hi i have come to the u.s. on a f2 visa and currently my spouse is doing her OPT.i applied for a driving licence in georgia and i was issued a learners permit based on my I94,visa and letter from social security office denying me a ssn.
i went to the same centre(decatur) for a road test and now they say that we cannot give you a licence because your visa says dependent for a student of wisconsin university,so you should go to wisconsin and get your licence.i went to another dmv centre and after verifying my docs. they let me take the road test and i cleared the test and they asked me to go to the counter to pay money , at that time the person in the counter again asked me for passpoert and i94 and he saw that university of wisconsin stuff on my visa and he said he will not issue a licence and i spoke to the supervisor and he says get a letter from INS ,i showed him my spouse opt card and showed him the words in the card which reads"eligible to work in u.s. upto ----").now he says that is your spouse opt card ,what autorisation do you have to stay in GA ?
has any one come across such a problem?is so kindly advice

From what I understand many 485 applications(not all)received in accordance to the June bulletin MAY have been preassigned a visa number(from the leftover 60,000 visas) NOT an approval.Although they are not supposed to pre assign numbers without name checks etc, is'nt it obvious that they might have done that??. They have a lot of cases to approve until Sept 30(from that 60,000 number)

Seems like there are more such cases - there is a news item on this topic yesterday on www.immigration-law.com with the title "10/23/2008: Increasing Customer Reports of Denial of AC-21 Ported I-485 Applications Without NOID by USCIS Upon Petitioner's Withdrawal of Approved I-140 Petitions"
Seems like they too dont know whether its related to untrained USCIS staff's mistake or some other issue.

How would I-140 approvals impact the availability of visa numbers and isnt spill over already happening,ie, removal of country caps, as we have seen last year,last quarter as well in July VB?
More I140 approvals (of those who have already filed their 485) means more 485 eligible to be adjudicated. Longer the queue and more efficient the USCIS is - slower the PD movement.

Please realize that HR 5882 is the only hope for now. I had mentioned in my previous posts that EB 2 I/C will retrogress in Oct (many said i was just saying this because i was EB3). This is not the time to be complacent or hope that USCIS will start dishing out visas and clear the backlogs. Help in working towards getting something done with the bills, the window of opportunity is very short.

Thanks sy. I fully agree it's the agent we deal with. My BOA loan coordinator is extremely stubborn & doesn't have any clue regarding immigration. From day 1 she is stuck on unexpired I-94 & till today she asks me to furnish that. Is it possible that I can contact you or any of your friends through email / phone & discuss to check where I am going wrong. I can furnish my contact details if needed.
DCU is the way to go. To get membership, you may have to donate a few dollars to some group and become a member, before you can open an account. Their rates are competitive, and closing costs are "very decent". 90% of the stuff can be done over ph/fax/email. The best thing that my friend said was even without 20% down payment, his PMI (private mortgage insurance) was a mere 30 dollars (for a 220k home).

I think priority date is important only for using a visa number for a 485 application which has been adjudicated. What is the use of a 485 application pending processing even if the visa numbers are available for that PD.

Yesterday I contributed $300 and I hope I do better than that today, but I need help from all those people who have never contributed. So please pull the trigger. I am only one contribution (of $100) away from a first time contributor. As soon as I get that I will post my contribution. As soon as I do that sam2006 is going to make his contribution of $100.
Today I was hoping to exceed my contribution of $300 from yesterday. Looks like it is not goint to happen today. But it will be a bummer if I can't match yesterday's contribution.
