Just when U.S. employers thought the bad vibes emanating from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) could get no worse, the agency tasked with deciding whether to approve or reject requests for immigration benefits has come up with VIBE -- its new Verification Initiative for Business Enterprises which costs a whopping $35,506,760.43. Just imagine . . . . . . a program in which USCIS, by using VIBE, "will acquire information from an [Independent Information Provider (IIP)] . . ., which can be used to verify the eligibility of a company while detecting multiple types of misrepresentations." . . ....

I have filed for 485 /EAD and AP on july 2 2007
receipt date is July 2 2007
Notice date is Aug 29 2007
I see the processing time is 90 day at Texas
I called USCIS and they tell me that they count processing time from the Notice date and not from the date when the case was filed
We have travel plans for this Dec
Can some one pls guide me how and when i can get my AP soon

I am planning to apply for my EAD/AP renewal. This would be my 4th EAD/AP application, but this is the first time I am planning to e-file.
My I-485 was filed with VSC but later got transfered to TSC. While my wife's I-485 is transfered to Newark, NJ USCIS local office. Given this situation where should be the supporting documents be sent ?
1) VSC: since all my previous EAD/AP were applied there
2) TSC: since my case is currently pending here.
3) what @ my wife's EAD/AP renewal? here case is pending at local USCIS office.

I am currently on H1 and not using my EAD yet.
In my situation can I accept any contract work on 1099? This will be beside my full time work.
Do I have to switch to EAD from H1 to accept 1099 for contract work?

RFE: June first week
July first week: RFE response sent
July last week: Approval notice sent
August first week: approval notice received
Documents requested for RFE (also suggested by lawyer):
- Client Letter, role/responsibilities, duties, technologies used, company profile etc.
This letter also clearly stated all entities involved and their relationships with each other.
- Purchase Order and Other contract related stuff (all possible). Everyone co-operated.
- Badge (main bulding, her office), timesheets
- photos (cubicle/office building,company logo etc), login screen, machine etc, client phone directory
- copies of recent pay stub and offer letter, job duties
Thanks to everyone who contribute on this forum. It helped us a lot. This is for my wife.

Hello,
I am not sure if this is good place to ask this.
1. I have moved out of US 5 months ago and I am working for my GC sponsoring employer overseas. What happens to my I-485? Is it considered abandoned?
2. While I was working as H1 I contributed to 401K. I want to know if I can leave that money in the US till retirement age and then start widrawing while living overseas. I expect I will not be a US citizen at that point.
Can anyone point me to a competent accountant who can help with question 2?

Filed I 485 mid June. I'm in the same boat as you, did not get receipt date. I hope they do not send the application back... I was wondering if the July bulletin affects those who filed I 485 in June.

Hi all,
I am resident of CA and have my I140 application approved from Nebraska. My I485 application was filed in TSC. Is this a issue since according to USCIS, CA residents should file in the NSC. Will my I485 will be rejected because of this issue.

Are you really sure that your H1B is still valid? My understanding is, only one type of Visa will be issued to a country for an individual, they cancel previously valid visas.

U can ask your HR (if they are willing) to create an account for u on the PERM website...u can then login and check the status.
