I agree with you 100%. As this is true, lawmakers are very well aware of our grief, but none of them is saying it. They want to oppose legals in the name of opposing illegal immigration bills. If you look at CIR in 2006. First they put legals in the bill with illegals, then they oppose illegals, ultimately the result is no legal immigartion too. Nothing is getting passed in the congress for the legal immigration. what does it tell ?

This post does clarify visa recapture issues, but what about concurrent 140/485 filing ? Also, if our fate is still so tied up with 12+ millions illegals, doesn't that mean that we failed to make our case, even with so much media coverage, lobbying and our personal efforts to call the law makers. Could another explanation be that lawmakers have all but refised to treat us with dignity we deserved as an educated, law abiding, tax paying citizens contributing to the society. I believe that we didn't fail and we tried what we could but still lawmakers refuse to act on our casue, may be they are implying something without explicitly saying it ?

Any location restrictions when using AC21?
I�ve been laid off as of Friday last week.
My employer started laying off people an year ago and there were too many cycles so far. I was immune to all those layoffs until Friday. They eliminated everybody in my team, 15 people in total.
I am in the final stage of my GC and I have 2 year EAD. My H1 is expiring in March and my (ex) employer already paid my Attorney for the 3 year extension. They have decided to extend my H1 and paid for the expenses. But in the mean time, they were forced by the investors to show profitability and hence the layoffs.
My (ex) employer is based in Massachusetts and my Labor Certification was done from this location.
I have received job offers from some of my employer�s clients. However, they are based in other States (CO, OH & WA for instance) and they might not be able to do my H1. One of them is interested in hiring me on a contract basis, since they had frozen new hiring.
Is taking a job outside of Massachusetts impact my pending I-485? or Will it violate my Labor Certification conditions? I couldn�t find an answer for this anywhere.
Also, can I take contract jobs for the time being?
I sent out an email to my Attorney with all these questions. But, he is not available until Tuesday next week.

I got a RFE on my 485 on 11th April and I have responded to it. By next week it would be 60 days by which USCIS has to take some decision. What would be the status update as my PD is Aug 2006.
Is it normal to get RFE while PD is not current?

Canada does not have 50 universities, in TOTAL. So your choice is limited to
(1) Queens University in Kingston, Ont.
(2) University of Toronto
(3) UBC
Well, that is not true. Canada does have 50 universities. Kingston, Toronto and Vancouver are not the only places in Canada. Besides many universities in Toronto area (McMaster, Toronto, Waterloo, York, Ryerson) other Provinces such as Alberta, Saskatchwan, Manitoba, Quebec, New Brunswick, New Foundland, etc. all have good universities. If you are a PR, tuition is very low compared to the US. If you are outstanding in your field, you can hope for a grant too.

Please be considerate to your good employer and good attorney of yours. You do not want to burn bridges, when you leave. Give them at least 2-3 weeks notice. That is the least or at least work with them for 6 months since that is what the law would require you after getting GC.
AFAIK there is no law requiring you to work with your current employer after getting GC, particularly if it is based on an EB1-EA petition. But there is an underlying intent that you will at least continue working on areas related to your extraordinary ability. And I read elsewhere that this will likely be a major factor later, should you apply for citizenship, when USCIS will go through your employment and GC history with a fine tooth comb. In worst case scenario, they will not only deny you citizenship, but may even revoke your GC (again, this is what I read on other forums, and makes good sense too). So yes, switch as many employers as you want, but stay within the scope of your promised field of expertise and ability.

but when someone only complains and spends time undermining us and our efforts elsewhere and when they return only to take potshots...i reserve my right. you are actively harming this organization by your actions and it's not hidden to us, therefore you are retarding our goals- and those will benifit all 25,000 here- active, passive etc. not every person is creating value here and that is the fact. your attitude is childish, i will say it again. it's childish because your purpose is not to improve things in any way or help us achieve our goals but to prove some silly point about how you were treated in the past. but this is the last time i'm bothering, i want to move beyond this. some of us have better things to do than lurk around and wait to score personal points. you have already stated you have no wish to contribute further in any way. so be it.

please do mail copies to iv also- can put them all in one envelope and send.
i have about 30 letters with me now (including 6 from another MN chapter members), many more are still in the works and i have friends working on it too...

I think we could have used some popular tactics to ensure larger attendance in the rally. If the core knew that people like Sheela Murthy and Greg Siskind would be joining the rallly, they should have let everybody know in advance. some people would have attended just to see those big names in person.
I know it's all about ideology and you can say we don't need people who don't want to come for the cause, but looking at what other anti-immigration groups are resorting to, it wouldn't have been a bad idea.

When exactly did you submit your application? I just called a few minutes ago to ask about mine (which was submitted early May) and the guy said I should not be affected by this as I should already be well into "the process by now" meaning I should have already been assigned a visa. He spoke very very slow...so I don't know if he was 100% sure of what he was saying:confused:
My 485 application was also received my USCIS in second week of May '07. Does this mean that they have alloted visa number to me as well? I am confused :(
