I am doing my second masters from a university with a valid i20. I have a CPT till the end of Aug 2008. I have a approval notice for H1B with start date of OCT 1 2008.
I am planning to discontinue the course from Fall (Starts sep 1st) 2008. Because there is only one month gap between Fall Semester and H1b start, is it possible i stay in the US without taking any courses at the university. i do not mind not working if i have an option to stay back in US till oct 1st.
i am trying to avoid a hefty fee for the whole semester, i need to fill the gap from SEP 1st 2008 to OCT 1st 2008

Hi,
My I-485 was filed in June'2007 in Nebraska service centre since my company is based in Michigan. I live in PA.
I am filing my EAD now but according to the latest instructions for EAD, the filing centre should be decided based on where you live. So for PA, the filing centre listed is Texas.
My question is should I file in Texas based on where I live or in Nebraska where my I-485 case was filed. The USCIS case tracker also says that my case is at Nebraska.

Pew confirms what we've already assumed is happening. The number of illegally present immigrants has dropped 8% since 2007. The number is now about 11 million, down from peaking at 12 million. The annual migration of illegally present immigrants has dropped from about 850,000 a year a few years ago to just 300,000 a year today. Why? It is a one way street once that check is cashed. No refunds from USCIS. If the application gets returned from the mailroom for some mistake like missing signature, you will get your check submitted back.
