Friends,
I'm a long time silent follower of these forums. I've been thru most of the ups and downs of the immigration journey, and I am now on the final stage of the green card waiting for my PD to be current.
Something rather curious happened to me that I would like to share with you. I recently applied for my first EAD, about a full year and a half after I filed for my I-485. My e-application and consequently the receipt date is Nov 3rd, 2008. I got my biometrics notice in the mail on Nov 14th, for an appointment date of tomorrow, Nov 26th.
The oddity starts here, I just went to check my mail, and I am already approved for my EAD, and the card production has been ordered.
Is this something that happens frequently? Has it ever happened to anyone else before? I will be showing up to my appointment tomorrow anyway just in case...

Hi!
I need to know when can I fly back to US on my H4 visa(valid till 2011 ).
My husband has joined a new job and his H1 B transfer has been filed .
Do I have to wait for new I 797 or Can I just travel on my old H4 visa and
visa transfer receipt notice .( he is filing the H1 transfer by premium processing ) .
His new employer is suggesting me to reenter on old h4 and before my husband
joins their company .
But for me that will be very soon ( not fulfilling the purpose of my visit ).
Any help is much appreciated.:confused:

Can someone give me any suggestions?
I have filed for my AOS, last week.. I am assuming that i will get my EAD, AP in next 3-4 months......
a.) Once we get our EAD's can we go to India for a period of 6 months...even without receiving our physical GC? and yet return to US??
b.) After filing for AOS, can we leave US for a long period (6 months)..so in that case will we still get our EAD/AP/GC's???????
any answers?

My Wife had her COS from H4-H1, and I filed my I-485 in July with my wife as secondary applicant and already got our EAD,AP. We are planning to Visit India this month and my wife wants to use her AP while travelling back to US.
1. Is it advisable or are there any issues with using AP.
2. Can she use AP that she received as a secondary applicant and continue to work on H1B with her current employer
3. In Case her Status changes to EAD, can we reinstate her H1B at any point in time without counted against H1B Cap.
Pl Advise.

Hello all
My wife dint work for a while on H1 status,but changed back to H4 after working for 6 months with change of status from H1 to H4 at INS..so currently she is on h4..
Will there be an issues during adjustment of status thru at 485 stage..will her details be checked in..?

I am sure that IV core team organizes events and actions pretty well. I know there are usually action items that get posted on IV.
How about thinking about the action items in a different perspective. For any event/action, create a task force. Ofcourse that may have been what is done as of now. But all am saying is create a taskforce every action/event to be organized at different levels vi.z, IV Core, IV State, IV Local and create a menu item called TaskForce on the main page. Anyone who is interested in a particular event or action would get in touch with the taskforce team.
Not sure if it makes sense but just a thought of coining a different name for the action items with assigned roles and ability to contact easily.

I sent the applications(I-140,I-485,I-131,I-765)to Nebraska center 3 weeks ago and it was received by them on December 17,2007(because I tracked the FedEx package).Until today,no receipts yet and my checks are not cashed yet and the receipting update says Current for Nebraska, is the normal or there is something wrong?

Future action items might include drafting documents and letters to support this provision. There maybe actions such as sending emails etc. However we would not be able to open a public action item unless we can have thousands of our members willing to participate in a grassroots action item. This survey intends to understand the needs of our membership for this provision and collect grassroots information.
The fact is we have a dedicated group of volunteers (and we need more) who have been trying their best to spread the message about this initiative so that a strong grass-roots support can be created leading up to launch of the public action items. So far we have around 1100 people who have responded. Based on quick calculations carried out using PERM data, it is estimated that there are at least 60K-70K EB applicants waiting to file I-485/EAD/AP (this is a very conservative estimate..the actual number could be much more). Grass-roots initiatives require time and patience and we request maximum number of impacted folks to participate actively.

Hello,
I have a RFE for my 485 according to the online status. My PD is current, and NSC's 485 processing time is now July 19, 07. My 485 RD was July 25, 07, so it is likely that they are working on adjudicating my case (and could have approved if there were no RFE).
I am still waiting for the RFE in the mail to know what it is exactly. But, assume that I fulfill their request and mail them the required items immediately, will I need to wait another 6 months before they check my RFE fulfillment? Or do they usually look at the RFE immediately (since they are already working on my case)...

Can we go to USCIS office after 90 days of filing I-485 to get EAD? Also, does the 90 day counter starts once we file or when we get the receipt from USCIS. Please advice!

I know this is forum is not the correct place to discuss this topic. But I am posting this because some members of the forum must have already faced ths issue.
I ahve a one month old newborn. We are planning to go to India for vacation end of July. I have to apply for my baby's US passport. But she has not received her SSN. The instuction says that SSN is not mandatory but IRS can fine you if you dont disclose that information. I tries to contact SSN office, IRS office and Passport Office. Each one will point to the other Agency. So not sure what what to do. Anyone who was in the same boat, please let me know whether there are any issues with applying for passport without SSN number.

I am masters student graduating in June 2011. I got an offer from a big company and it already started h1b premium processing(applied on Mar 31). Now, I received an offer from my dream company and I didn't mention about h1-b processing and want to work for this company. I have few questions and need your suggestions.
1. Reject the first company offer. Not sure if I have to pay, because they applied for H1-B premium processing. How much I have to pay in this case? Can I continue working on OPT in this case?
2. Inform the second company about the first company h1-b processing. What can second company do, if H1-B is already processed? What can second company do, if H1-B is not processed?
Please suggest if there are better ways to handle the situation.

I faxed senator's office on sep 9th , then called this monday and they said I should get a response of inquiry in 30 days. No help from congressman's office. It has been more than a month after mailing the letter to them and folllowing up by phone calls. I have given up..
